My thinking is it's an adaptation of the parasocial relationship a lot of people have with YouTubers mixed with the overcritical analysis people have of large studio driven cartoons. There have always been people that are downright nasty to YouTubers/streamers add animation to that and it's worse

I think an issue I've noticed is that fans of Indie Animation project see any type of critique against a show as a hate campaign, but then there's also people who don't want to criticize a shows flaws but instead nitpick every little detail and they became louder in response.

Also this isn't Indie, but just media in general. Learn how to criticize and find the flaws in something you enjoy but still enjoy it. Great example. I do like TADC and I thought the characters were well written. at the same time I thought the ending sucked and some characters felt wasted

I think it's more important than ever to realize that searching for validation on one's opinions is a waste of time- and that people just need to learn to like things, and search for the good in them. Criticize, but let the good coexist with the bad, not be defined by the bad.

I feel like modern fandom culture has developed for the worse in general. The internet is incapable of handling ANY negativity without outputting it as "This is the worst thing ever." It's starting to feel bizarrely rare for people to just... like things? And this applies to so many fandoms.
