Random middle class, middle aged, mid-level nerd. It can happen here, whatever "it" may be. "Screw you, I've got mine" is not the highest moral calling we can aspire to. The cartoon in my profile is from 1894 and has been relevant since.

@apeman33.bsky.social ok the Trans thing is not an issue. The fact I twisted my knee yesterday and have been taking Tylenol for the pain is. They want me healthy to donate. But I swear they don’t want my blood. I can’t give it away. Le sigh. Woe woe is me. (mock pathos)

Mitchell's access point was prostitution law itself. Think about what a vice sting requires. An armed man in plain clothes. Unmarked car. Fake negotiation. Cuffs. A woman told resisting is a crime. The sentencing memo said: he targeted sex workers believing police would side with one of their own.

Donna asks for identification. She refuses to be touched. She calls for a witness. She tries to leave. That is not a woman resisting arrest. When procedure and predator look identical, a sex worker can't screen out the predator without also "resisting arrest."

When Mitchell pulled out handcuffs, Donna cut his hand with a pocketknife and scrambled into the back seat to get out of the car. Now read that sequence again, knowing what we know about the man in the driver's seat. No badge. No radio. Handcuffs coming out. A rumor about a man kidnapping women.

Finally he saw Donna Castleberry, a 23 year old mother of two. She asked for his badge. He'd left it on a uniform, against policy. She asked for his radio. He didn't have that either. She said he wasn't police. She told him she'd heard about a man kidnapping women for sex.
