Caucus leader is an extremely inside-baseball job and people want it to be stunting on the GOP. But also the demand for that is clearly there and not filling it means people are just mad that it doesn't exist.

I do think that in the modern communication age it would probably be good to have a Caucus Spokesman that is a distinct job from the leader because that's like half of why people are inexplicably furious all the time.

It’s Robert Caro (I may be dating myself here lol). A lot of the job is “boring” shit tracking stuff, twisting arms, timing things to the floor, negotiating etc. The job is not the inspiring speeches we hear & love—and we want those folks in front of cameras! Not keeping track of bills.

Yeah I think realistically that's the way forward, people clearly want someone that does things like that, but the leadership jobs as they currently exist are not that and we probably need a new job just for that.

word was that part of the GOP's promise to Tricia was if she flipped, they'd redistrict her into a safe district so she'd be insulated from backlash. But in 2024, she was re-elected only by a razor-thin margin (around 200 iirc), and she got absolutely thumped this year. The irony is delicious
