I'm guessing there's a few APIs that you would have to be very careful/break. requestAnimationFrame, the web animations API, css transition events? I guess if you can know that there's no event listeners etc and then run in the "fast" path that could be interesting.

I think this is really exciting but it's worth pointing out that the demo involves an artificial stalling of the main thread. And if anything reads a stale style, it has to block. It's not clear to me if intersection/resize observers are compatible with this.
