I don't feel bad about the fact that I'm going to give someone a table for yuletide because it will be a nice solid table with good craftsmanship but it's not gonna be a sculpture and I wish it could be.

I miss having a fandom. :( I miss writing being fun. :( I know I said that one original project was fun and it was for a while but now it has settled back to just a kind of satisfaction? craftsmanship rather than art. I can build a table-story but I can't make a sculpture-story at the moment. sad.

Community fanworkers are the most important people in fandom and get no credit for it. If you want more comments and fandom friends someone has to build the machinery for that - fandom challenges and events, groupchats, reading groups, discussion spaces. It's not gonna happen on ao3 alone.

Also, I think it is way too easy to blame readers for using ao3 as designed. We perceive writers as hardworking participants who deserve better, which is both true and also neglects to acknowledge the labour that makes fandom communities happen. Some writers do not even leave fic comments themselves
