I'm very glad to see that more people are paying attention to what researchers and academics have been shouting for two years now. Please also recognize that it's not just science and technology, but also the humanities and the arts. Authoritarian regimes dismantle paradigms of education & knowledge

Two things are true: 1. Claims about AI capabilities are overblown 2. AI has completely revolutionized software development, and will do the same to many other fields I'm a software developer by trade. I'm going to attempt to explain what this revolution feels like "from the inside".

The inflection point came in November 2025, with the release of Anthropic's Opus 4.5 model via their Claude Code harness. Before then, people mostly used LLMs as a fancy autocomplete. Afterwards, people started to stop writing code and telling their computer what to do in (mostly) English.
