Post anzeigenI don't know where this idea comes from, AO3 does not have any protection from scraping. It's a public website, it's being scraped constantly. (I know of a 953 GB torrent being passed around that has everything ever posted to AO3 as of September of this year, even stuff that has been deleted.)
Post anzeigeneh, standing by what i said. some authors do not want their work published by other folks. you can argue 'well it's on the internet so it's free game' but by that logic nobody should listen to all those JP artists who ask folks to not quote repost their art?
Post anzeigenI mean, sure, it just annoys me that people seem to think AO3 is somehow safe from scraping. (Especially when authors lock their works to "protect it". That doesn't do what they think it does!)
Post anzeigen* the archive is a not for profit, most repost sites are for profit and some like Google are actively evil and support genocide. * AO3 has author protections in the TOS that other sites don’t have. * more reasons including ‘the author just wants it in one place and that’s okay.’
