Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.
Hello. I live in Los Angeles. The president is lying.
Senator Ted Cruz posted a dramatic video of LAPD cars on fire with the caption “this… is… not… peaceful.” What he didn’t mention? The footage was from 2020, not 2025. His post on X falsely implied it was current, part of a broader effort to spread lies and manufacture a crisis.
LAPD fired rubber bullets at Australian journalist @laurentomasi.bsky.social
True story bro.
So much this…
Newsom: "Arrest me. Let's just get it over with, tough guy. I don't give a damn ... Tom, arrest me. Let's go."
We’re deeply disappointed in much of the U.S. media. Grateful, however, to international journalists who are telling the truth.
not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates
LAPD when they think nobody is watching
Everyone should say it: The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism. Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy. But that's not what's interesting about Miller. It's not brains. It's bile.
"I voted for lawless, anonymous, masked, and unchecked police" is one hell of a jump from "eggs cost too much."
Art by Wren McDonald.
Rep. Gomez: LA County alone is 34% foreign born, 34%. So when he says they're going to liberate us, who is he going to liberate us from? Ourselves?
Newsom responds to Homan statement on possibly arresting him: He's a tough guy. Why doesn't he do that? He knows where to find me. Lay your hands off four year old girls that are trying to get educated. Come and arrest me. Let’s just get it over with tough guy. I don’t give a damn
To anyone who wondered, what could go wrong if we elected as president a highly volatile, deeply dishonest, simple-minded cretin with a revenge fetish, the answer is THIS. All of THIS.
Major General Randy E. Manner, former Acting Vice Chief, National Guard Bureau statement to Fox News: "This is an inappropriate use of the National Guard and is not warranted.”
Did you know that when Pam Bondi said "We presented El Salvador with an arrest warrant and they agreed to return him," she was admitting she failed to follow the extradition process, proving he could have been returned at any time? My latest: www.muellershewrote.com/p/abrego-gar...
At no point in this entire article of 16 paragraphs does ABC mention that another cop killed this cop by shooting her in the back. Nor does it mention the name of the cop who killed this cop. Nor does it mention that the civilians involved never fired at them. ABC might as well be state media.
Nothin but the facts
Independent journalism is when you can write what Terry Moran wrote without getting in trouble. Corporate journalism is when you can’t. It’s why many left the latter for the former. I understand the rationale behind corp journalism rules, I’m just glad they don’t apply to me
Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho didn't hold back when expressing his anger and "contempt" after agents with Homeland Security attempted to gain access to two elementary schools earlier this week.
Really Cool how nobody wanted to take this shit seriously
Every accusation is a confession.
The city of Glendale, in Los Angeles County, announced today that they're quitting an agreement with ICE thad allowed ICE to house its detainees at the Glendale police department. mynewsla.com/crime/2025/0...
He’s disappearing innocent people off of our streets and ordering the military onto our streets. He does not give a damn about the rule of law. He is the very tyrant our founding generation rose up against 249 yrs ago. It’s time for the American people to rise up again.
I never, ever want to hear another god damn word about state’s rights…
*taps the sign*
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stop for a moment and watch this little roadrunner utterly ecstatic to show his mama the treasure he found 🥹🥹🥹
Here's a baby otter to start your week.
Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)
For anyone who doesn’t live in Los Angeles or understand the geography of the city, the area is actually quite small where police are currently rioting.
Summer 2025 edition
I think Greta Thunberg is the best example of how there is no way of protesting that will satisfy the scolds. It'll either be called too aggressive or a self-serving publicity stunt.

BREAKING The City of Glendale, California — one of the most populous cities in Southern California — says it has terminated its contract with U.S. Homeland Security and ICE.
SWAT shoot at a woman for filming them.
I know one thing. If I were a young blonde, white woman, and a police officer shot me ON CAMERA, my settlement would be large enough to have its own itemized line on LA's yearly budget.
My local coffee shop is not playing around.
States’ rights!
Anybody who thinks that Bluesky is a bubble where people just reinforce each others’ opinions should try sharing an opinion on Bluesky.
Whats happened in LA over the weekend is pathetic. Once again we see the commander in chief agitating and escalating shit. On another note, it doesn't seem like dems were "overreacting" when we said the fate of democracy depends on this election.
I am on the other side of the world from Los Angeles and I just heard a news grab on our national radio station of Maxine Waters telling a cop "Are you gonna shoot an elected representative? If you shoot me, you better shoot straight" and she remains one of the best to ever do it
Dozens of journalists were assaulted by law enforcement in Los Angeles this weekend. The press were just doing their job -- a sacred one explicitly protected by law. Press rights orgs will follow up collectively tomorrow. Tonight, I emailed evidence to local/state/federal officials. My sign off:
It is completely unlawful for ICE to turn away members of Congress like this. The law could not be more clear; no member of Congress may be denied access to a facility where ICE is detaining someone, and they cannot be required to schedule in advance. Surprise inspections must be surprise.
Everything that is happening in Los Angeles could've been avoided if folks had listened and voted for the sane and qualified black lady.

Tom Homan says he was taken out of context by a reporter when he threatened to arrest Gavin Newsom. "The NBC reporter that interviewed me is very dishonest. We did a 20 minute interview and he cuts out a little clip and takes my words out of context." Jonathan Lemire: "NBC stands by its reporting"
Between Greta Thunberg and her fellow activists being kidnapped by Israel and Trump turning LA into his personal war zone, I hope people realise that protest, no matter how peaceful, will always be met with violence by dying empires.
I'm not a historian but my analysis is it's "Not good" when a government constantly commits crimes and tells the legislature, courts, and general public "What are you gonna do about it"
Well I think this is official confirmation that Bluesky has the Juice
MSNBC: Does everyone who has been arrested by ICE agents have a criminal record? TOM HOMAN: Absolutely not.
A second international reporter has been targeted while on the air. An Australian journalist was shot with a rubber bullet live during a broadcast from Los Angeles.
🔥 “You’re on the wrong side of history. You should be standing here with us… you took an oath to the constitution, not the fascists in the White House— he’s laughing at you… You’re tough behind your masks & fatigues, but how do you feel on the inside?” 🇺🇸
A federal program to protect US cities against extreme heat has just evaporated
⚠️ Warning: The Trump administration is circulating footage from 2020 to make the situation in L.A. appear more chaotic than it is. This is an intentional effort to manufacture a larger crisis. Stay alert. Pay attention. The propaganda machine is in overdrive.
Okay. Start with the ones abducting and trafficking people, and denying their rights to freedom of speech and due process.
I’m taking over as the menswear guy. Men should rotate through the same four band t-shirts for 35 years. Replace the shirts with identical shirts if the holes in them get big or you get too fat for them
GUY WHO, IF PRESSED, TURNS OUT IS DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED TO YOUR CAUSE: are you sure *those* tactics help your cause
Rioters breaking into the Capitol to try to lynch the VP: "great patriots [in a] peaceful lovefest" Citizens being shot with rubber bullets cos they protested ICE arrests: "insurrectionist, violent foreign terrorists [leading a] form of rebellion" Place your bets on Martial Law being declared
Here's your LAPD when they think no one's looking
Murphy: "Everything that's happened in the last 7 days - the fight w/ Musk & now the deployment of the National Guard - is probably also a distraction from the main story, which is that Trump is trying to pass probably the most unpopular piece of legislation he will attempt to move through Congress"
I went into the weed store and looked at all the flavored shit and without a hint of irony I said "is it possible to get some goddamn weed-flavored weed?" like a horrible Millennial Denis Leary.
Ok gang looks like we arrested a bunch of people who haven't committed any crimes so our next order of business is to invent some crimes to charge them with
“one of the most expensive hobbies around?” whoever wrote this should talk to a photographer sometime
I do wonder what it costs financially to have an army occupying Los Angeles and why I keep being told the government doesn't have enough money to pay for public schools to buy supplies for their teachers
Wrong Sized Shirt
MAGA was terrified this weekend, because one city out of 19,495 incorporated cities, towns and villages in the United States, decided to pop off. Los Angeles has 0.12% of the total US population and out of that 0.12% around 1% protested. That's how fragile the Trump regime is.
A herring is a fish. When a herring is preserved by salting and smoking, it turns red and smells. It's so pungent that it's a great diversion to distract hunting dogs from their trail. Now, a ‘red herring’ refers to anything that diverts attention from the issue at hand.
Chris Murphy: "Donald Trump only cares about quelling violent protests, or quelling protests writ large, when it's protest against him. That's fundamentally undemocratic."
Republicans BURIED a line in their "big beautiful bill" that would help Trump officials ignore court orders. One problem? It violates the Senate's rules. I’m going to fight to strip this provision out. And we need everyone in the fight against this bill.
Honestly social media has been so much better since I adopted "don't engage, just block" as a strategy. Also I find I get much less angry when the dickheads show up. I just go, "oh, troll, right," and immediately block them, no change in blood pressure and I've forgotten they exist seconds later.
Yup. I have a hard time seeing the fact that Bluesky does not compensate people for being combative assholes to generate "engagement" as a downside.
if you've been watching the community defenses against ICE and thinking, "i support my comrades but i don't feel comfortable being on the ~front lines~" please know there are many other ways to support! you can drop off a case of water and snacks, buy medical supplies, donate to jail support, etc
Yes I’m still laughing at this. They never stopped when my guy tripped, so I’m not gonna stop now.
I love LA.
let’s be pointy with mama
the empirical evidence is pretty conclusive that the 2020 protests contributed to trump’s defeat. why did it take four years for the “calamitous imagery” of those protests to have a decisive electoral impact in trump’s favor, & what caused the political valence of that imagery to reverse entirely?
As of June 1, nearly 25% of the people arrested by ICE in the interior and sent to detention had NO CRIMINAL RECORD. Data from the last six years, including 1.5 years of Trump's first term, reveals how this is completely unprecedented. It also helps explain the growing backlash.
At this rate, the Olympics and World Cup won’t be coming back to the U.S. anytime soon and you’ll have Trump to thank for that.
By targeting day laborers at Home Depot, ICE is finally letting legal American citizens live the dream of making $80 a day pulling weeds and painting sheds. by Stephen Miller
1. Trump has publicly and privately fantasized about deploying the military on US soil against protesters for years. In LA, with little justification, he has made those dreams a reality, violating longstanding democratic norms. He has manufactured a crisis. Let's review the history. 🧵
White House struggles to find qualified people willing to work for Pete Hegseth
NEW: California Governor Gavin Newsom says the state will sue Trump for sending at least 300 National Guard troops to Los Angeles protests against ICE raids — the first such deployment without gubernatorial consent since 1965. From: @jaknutson.bsky.social
Bunny and dog having fun together.. 😊
This country has a massive police rioting problem and it is never ever acknowledged.
and if “principle” here means that it was a top issue or concern or even symbolically representative of concerns for the most critical voters, then why is “handling of 2020 protests” or anything even vaguely related to that nowhere to be found in top issues for swing voters
my 180 hours in just legend of zelda tears of the kingdom works out to be about 2 dollars an hour including the price of the whole game console lol
President Trump is trying to sow chaos and fear, but we will always show up to defend our immigrant communities. Count on it.
In this Ohio diner, Paramount still means the network that shows Yellowstone, not a working class town south of Los Angeles. But they do know this: Watching protestors getting tear gassed on Fox News is more entertaining than any scripted TV show.
BREAKING: 🇮🇱➡️🇺🇦 Israel has transferred Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, confirms Ambassador Brodsky. Originally received from the U.S. in the 1990s, the systems are now helping defend Ukrainian skies. “We agreed to transfer them. It’s a pity this was barely mentioned,” he said.
u want to talk about expensive hobbies let me tell u about this coffee grinder for a pour over my friend
Rep. Seth Moulton: "I don't know why Trump continues to hold out for Putin.....What we need to do is increase pressure on Russia...If Putin walks out of this war thinking that he can just conquer any country he wants, he could well go to NATO next."
