Makes sense! HELLBOY has plenty of other toys to play with, but they maybe left that one on the shelf: the Torch as an aged Captain America-type, on a final mission with Hellboy, who he had watched grow up for 40-some years...(I think Hellboy has even lost the gun he got from him!)

From what I gathered, it’s that he doesn’t want to deal with Byrne. So yeah not a big deal in reprints of seed of destruction since it was scripted by him but I wouldn’t be shocked if that 1) doesn’t have royalties as it was work for hire & 2)royalties are so small it doesn’t matter.
