It's dumb kids getting access to YouTube. most of the guys like nero built themselves up to be way more important than they were, which is part of the reason why they dropped off like a rock. It wasn't just that people agreed NOT to talk about them, it was because they weren't interesting without it

Historically, my policy is not to give oxygen to the fire. Most people think they're good people, a lot of people are scared and listening to demagogues. Deprogramming requires gentleness.

sometimes you gotta pull a scared critter out of a slippery mud pit, and it sucks, but you can help them out, even if they wanna bite you. That was my take on it. I don't really talk about the bad shit, I felt super weird watching other anti-GG types trying to make A Brand out of it.

I still got sent desleeving videos and shit still, death threats, hack attempts, the usual. But instead of going to social media and going "look at how gamergate hates ME, the protagonist of reality" like a lot of them did (remember IMC being anti-GG at one point?), I just worked individually

So my way of talking people out of gamergate was usually kinda just walking them through it, asking them what made them mad, talking to them about various situations. I treated them like reasonable people who had simply been uninformed and didn't want to feel stupid. It worked a lot
