Jeremy Thomas embodied grown-up, daring film culture, movies which revealed what be called the "secret box" in our heads. Socialist, baroque, transgressive, epic, influenced by punk but fascinated by beauty and the power of movie stars.

One of the greatest film producers, Jeremy Thomas, died last night. Bad Timing, Eureka, The Hit, Sexy Beast, The Last Emperor, The Sheltering Sky, Crash, Naked Lunch. I made it back from America to be with him at the end. We drank red wine and cried. Truly loved him.

Jeremy Thomas RIP He was a producer who made some of the most exciting cinema happen. Nic Roeg - Jonathan Glazer - Bernardo Bertolucci - David Cronenberg - Takashi Miike - Stephen Frears all had their projects shepherded to the public by Thomas.
