Like yeah these are two institutions the country is proud of and are two ways the state most directly interacts with the public so seeing it reject the very core of who you are as a trans person and being actively hostile really feels alienating

Or rather, by "generally oppose" I'm assuming you mean that there should be state interventions to prevent or withhold access to medical transition without the permission of a third party. If you just mean that you think it's maybe not very advisable but oppose state intervention then not really.
