I finished reading Stephen King’s THE GUNSLINGER THE DARK TOWER I. I did not like it. It was nonsensical. This book was found in a rehab library.
Show PostFinished reading EM Forster’s THE MACHINE STOPS AND OTHER STORIES. This is a collection of SciFi short stories. The first piece in the book was absolutely BRILLIANT; prescient & scary. It could have been the basis for a novel. The other stories were "meh". Nonetheless, recommended. I bought the book
Show Postfinished reading ISABELLA NAGG AND THE POT OF BASIL by Oliver Darkshire. this witty &imaginatively written book is reminiscent of harry potter, with magic in odd &peculiar circumstances. includes goblins (did you know they're a fungus?). recommended. i bought this book wwnorton.com/books/978132...
Show Postfinished AMONG THE BIRDS by Lyanda Lynn Haupt, a seattle-based writer i know personally. new from Skipstone (Mountaineers Books). in addition to careful research & beautiful prose, book features gorgeous watercolors by Justin Gibbons. Formal review on its way. www.mountaineers.org/books/books/...
Show Postjust finished reading yesteryear. it‘s a truly peculiar book that explores fame, toxic social media performances, religious hypocrisy & the heavy expectations placed on modern women. it uses brilliant descriptive prose as it often falls off the cliff into mocking its characters. i bought this book
