FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980) returns to AMC theaters nationwide tonight. One show only! Tickets around $10. Peacock's prequel series CRYSTAL LAKE starring Linda Cardellini starts Oct 15, so this is a nice opportunity to pre-game and pay tribute to the original Mrs. Voorhees Betsy Palmer. #FilmSky

A BEAR CALLED PADDINGTON was published #OTD in 1958. "I felt it would say a lot about the Brown family that they were prepared to take in a refugee like Paddington," author Michael Bond said of his beloved orphan bear from Peru, who was inspired by the displaced children of World War II. #BookSky

Finally saw THE ODYSSEY in 70mm IMAX at Linc Sq NYC and it looked terrible. I've had unforgettable experiences in that theater, but tonight was a murky mess. Trailers were too dark, and it never got better. Credits were so dark they were unreadable. A beautiful film looked like crap. #FilmSky

"Winnie the Pooh" by A.A. Milne was published #OTD in 1926. This is the edition my father read to me in the '70s. I gave it to a girlfriend in 1998 in hopes of delaying our inevitable breakup, and felt weird about asking for it back. I hope she shared it w/ her kids, if she had any. #BookSky
