Even setting aside the white supremacist behind it, there's a difference between seeing a magician do a magic trick to entertain you and seeing a guy do a magic trick to convince you and investors that it's the future. If it were a Disneyland attraction? Sure. A tech presentation, though? No.

It has a basic meaning that is a useful enough and accepted heuristic. I can tell that you want to get into the weeds about various strains of ideological particularities and maybe argue for a heterodox use. Like I said, I don't find that helpful in this context.
