Hi, this is me holding a T-Rex tooth at a museum in OK. It was really cool, and probably one of the coolest moments of my life. Imagine kids being able to do that at @acadnatsci.bsky.social when it reopens to the public. It will also be cool. @drexeluniv.bsky.social @savetheacademy.bsky.social

🧵3) Closing the Academy to the public would shut countless children out of a potentially life-changing experience. I implore that Drexel University please keep this museum open. @savetheacademy.bsky.social

🧵2) Its skeletal frame towering above me, emphasized by a neon silhouette of the creature nearby, left me awestruck. That fossil sparked my interest in the world around me, as well as a fondness for dinosaurs (& their mythological counterpart, dragons) that shows up in a lot of my art to this day.

🧵1) Having your favorite dinosaur be the T-Rex is often considered "basic," but for me, it's because it was the first dinosaur I ever saw, at the first museum I ever visited: The Academy of Natural Sciences. #dino #dinosaur #paleontology #museum #museumlife #museumlover #philadelphia #philly

Huge rally for Palestine tonight remembering all those killed over 3 years since October 7, 2023. Marched around Philadelphia from Rittenhouse Park to City Hall. Nonviolent. Cops were great. Lights were on in the Academy. #SaveTheAcademy #FreePalestine #StopBombs
