Show PostYes, during a refactoring I "sed" a bit to violently, leading to that self-assignement: github.com/Normation/ru... It's actually a no-op since there's a lazy val and nothing references it, but scala 3.8 didn't see it.
Show PostWe're on 3.9.0, and the migration 3.8 -> 3.9 was extremely painless, we had like 4 source change in whole rudder.io code, and among them it even caught a real bug in our code. I think it was the first one so easy. Perhaps after 2.12 -> 3, everything will look easy, though
Show PostProject Crema is gaining features every day, it uses JVMCI with Graal as JIT compiler... the VM, the compiler, all written in Java. The tradeoff: drop optimizations specific to closed world, but with the JIT (Graal), dynamically loaded code can be even faster (vs AOT) at runtime.
Show PostProject Crema will shift AOT-compilation from a binary switch (current closed world) into a continuous knob ... fine-grained control of what is AOT-compiled while keeping full compatibility with dynamically loaded classes e.g. full reflection. Best of both worlds!
