With the colder nights over the last week these 7 Long-tailed Tits Aegithalos caudatus have been roosting together in a huddle. These social birds pass the locations of their favourite roost sites through the generations. I first saw them roosting here in 2011. Buckfastleigh, Devon #birds

Portland Day 6 - A ripping day of migration saw birds arriving pre-sunrise and didn't really let up until the mid afternoon. More Woodlarks, constant Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps, Meadow Pipits and Pigeons. Redwings trickling in, with some oddities like Dartford Warbler and some forgettable Geese!

Red-flanked Bluetail, in my patch, Halligarth next door, yesterday. Though very likely to be the Burrafirth bird from earlier in wk, was a glorious, pulse-raising moment to focus my #swarovskioptik #NLPures on those iconic flank blushes. What a privilege to have a Tawny Owl roost viewable from the home office. This is their absolute favourite branch to roost on, but one of the pair normally disappears further into the bush during the day. 🥰
