I cut my dad and sister out of my life a decade ago and never looked back. Family and being related aren't the same, I 💜 my chosen family. It's also absurd to say no one describes themselves as toxic. There were times in my life where I was and I bitterly regret them and am in therapy to do better

It's always a "shock" to narcissistic people. I guarantee they've been told very clearly and repeatedly exactly what the problem is, likely for years, but their reaction will still be "I was blindsided! This came out of nowhere!"
