I still mask. It's not hard and I still have more social life than I can schedule in. I haven't had a cold, flu, Covid, or anything for going on seven years. I don't even remember what it's like to start to feel sick.

It's like assuming that people who wear seatbelts are more scared riding in cars. No, man, we're less scared because we're protected. Obviously.

I'm just one data point but I've been sick exactly twice since 2020. Once was covid from someone I was staying with who didn't mask outside our lodgings. The other was a cold from visiting my nieces who don't mask at school. Pretty sure my pre-masking illness rate was higher than twice in 6 years.

It's also such weird framing; "stress, fear of disease, and constant worry about other people" is something I have LESS OF when I'm wearing a mask, for obvious reasons! I'm way less vulnerable to all that when masked! Obviously I'm more relaxed!

A friend of mine (not on this platform) was complaining about her sinuses and hayfever, saying she's tried EVERYTHING. I'll tell you one thing she hasn't tried: a mask. 🙃
