what gets me about the opposing side of the UK gender wars on here is 95% of the time they don't actually want to make it obvious that their stated goals would put them well to the right of various red states in America w/r/t LGBT rights

today I learned my bookstore has a first edition copy of a stage magic book published in 1898, with an inscription by Harry Houdini. it’s just been… sitting on a shelf in the back. I’ve walked by it a million times.
