We should be able to disagree without destroying each other. But when someone's identity becomes a reason to deny them work, healthcare, family or safety, that is no longer just an opinion. Someone's life is being affected.

It's been 28 years since Matthew Shepard was killed in a violent anti-LGBTQ hate crime. I’m fighting to ban the bigoted 'panic' defense used by one of his killers from being used in federal court. I'll always work to protect LGBTQ+ Americans from violence with my colleagues in the Equality Caucus.
