Lol, my dad gained weight each time my mom got pregnant (although he did lose it). It's rather endearing when you look at the pictures of them both with baby weight. ❤️

I love Derek Guy's threads. This one got me thinking: the clothes I still love after 10 years tend to be ones I paid full price for. That's not necessarily because they were more expensive. It's because I loved them enough to pay full price even if I winced.

I have an evening gown I bought 15 years ago that I adore wearing. I feel like a John Singer Sergeant painting in it. It cost a bundle. It was worth it. I have a black wool sweater jacket that comes with me on every trip. I've also had it for a good 15 years. Still hasn't pilled.

On the lower end, I broke my rule about only buying things at j.Crew when they go on sale because I fell in love with a barn jacket & didn't want to risk them running out of my size. I love the thing and am impatient for for cooler weather so I can wear it.

When I buy things on sale, I'm generally in the mindset that "it fits me, it's in style, It looks like good quality and ye gosh, it's 50% off!" But that's not the same thing as feeling like the thing was designed especially for me, which is how I feel about the above three articles of clothing.
