It was more likely volume and the lack of government support. Renault had two factories in Australia, Zetland in Sydney and West Heidelberg in Melbourne and they were just assembling CKDs. I imagine labour costs probably had a hand in both closures too.

Show PostThere's probably a crap ton of those still going. We built R12s here as well, my brother had two of them and he isn't even a car guy. I'm sure you already know this but the 12 went on to be the Dacia 1300/1310 which ran until the early 2000s. Did they build 12s in Quebec?
