Yes, this happened to me recently. I chalk it up to the sender imagining they were being helpful with the suggested verbiage, rather than manipulative (so don't take this as an invite to dump on this unnamed person). I felt manipulated anyway. It's not a great feeling. Anyway, an FYI for all y'all.

Publicists, editors, writers: When querying an author for a book blurb, DO NOT offer a suggested blurb for the queried author to "use or adapt." One, authors actually do know how to write. Two, you are saying, unintentionally or otherwise, "I don't care about your opinion, I just need your name."

I know that most Americans are against this. I'm just wondering why there aren't protests going on every day. I know that there's talk of a general strike, but that's all it is, talk. It's almost as if people don't understand the life & death threat facing them.

If someone is granted the role of 'protector' then they hold the safety of those they protect hostage. If someone is granted the role of 'provider' then they hold the wellbeing of those they provide for hostage. It's about making others dependent and vulnerable.

People do understand that the 'positive masculinity' embodied in roles like protector and provider are just 'patriarch' under any other name, right? Men aren't offered these roles out of an appeal to benevolence. They get submission to their authority in exchange.
