(3/3) To researchers who are sensitive over their work being labelled "mediocre", your feelings might be annoyed, but millions of desperate people around the world, who live in darkness and suffering, are affected by the quality of your work. Please keep that in mind when interpreting criticism.

(2/3) People view "mediocre" as an insult. But most of what most people do, including myself, is mediocre or worse. Difference is we are not in charge of research or policy that affects millions of lives. Those who are should be held to high standards, not just hypotheses but practical achievements.
