It was unnecessary. He'd also been subjected to an angiogram after thee stress test which only showed 70% blockage of on coronary artery - which is not indicative of a need for bypass surgery. I worked in an ICU for post op heart surgery patients in Vancouver 2 1/2 years and knew this was fact.

ordered by a Cardiologist for a patient admitted with ?bladder mass to be investigated. This patient had no history of chest pain and on the stress test, he had only 1 irregular beat. Often a normal happening on these tests. Within 2 hours of this test, this man was in an OR for bypass surgery.

Why the day nurses (I guess more than 1 RN and PN's) couldn't do this, I never knew. Also it appeared every specialty of doctor saw each patient whether needed or not. It seems tests were ordered on patients which had nothing to do with their admission diagnosis. An example was a stress test
