Their genuine (sometimes subconscious, sometimes explicit) belief is the supreme court ruled that changing your gender isn’t real and all trans people are faking it, and they are basically furious that trans people are still, in their minds, “breaking the law”

Like, you just can't reason with this, not really, because it's not a position they've reasoned themselves into. It's very New Atheist in the assumption that, actually, trans people obviously all know it's fake and if society stops indulging it then they'll stop believing it.
