fwiw i do objectively think there's plenty of point and i will always adore games as a medium, it just feels like so much more of an uphill battle now which is a hilarious dichotomy because development has never really been more accessible. but that hopeful spark feels extinguished

i've been teetering on the edge of going back to making my own games for some time, but it feels so different planning a game now to last time i made one? even back in 2019-2020 it felt like endless possibility, now there's just a sense of encroaching dread and 'what's the point', largely bc of AI

it's definitely partially due to AI sucking the joy and life out of every creative profession, maybe partially due to getting older and more jaded. just trying to figure out how to get that excitement back about making games (or y'know, anything, it's been a hard 6~ years for us all)
