They've done such a good job dehumanising trans people, even many of our allies don't even realise they erase us as humans when they talk about us. We are just words on a page or a screen.

Reading replies to a post about the NHS guidance and so many cis people, while admitting it's a cruel policy, also down play the impact because there are so few trans people. They just think about cis people. For trans people, the impact is massive, the danger very real, and the results deadly.
