from a real-world standpoint it's obvious untenable and unacceptable and incredibly obscenely immoral -- but also from a theoretical pov, from a Weberian pov, what the fuck is the US government if this one guy, who is not elected and not in the gov't, is making these kinds of decisions?

Yeah I’m a big fan of your work also Steve, but I agree with Fig that we’re already in a race to the bottom, and the tough thing about those races is there’s nothing one party can do unilaterally in any particular moment to end them.
