Do I think Trump will be reticent to cede power when his term is up? Yes. Do I think this could create enormous tension and significant threat of danger? Yes. Do I think that he is talking about a fortified, armed arch because of some plan to retain power by force? No. For four reasons:

1. He understands that claiming "national security" clears judicial obstacles. 2. It doesn't even make sense militarily. 3. "Big, gilded structure" is more Trumpian than "long-term tactics." 4. He barely planned ahead for Iran action. There's no reason to assume he' planning further ahead for 2029.
