also, how much upbringing and social culture can affect what one sees as brave vs cowardly. holha honestly went above and beyond to try and protect his loved ones, but it was viewed as cowardice because of the traditions he grew up with.

aetherial healing actually does work just fine on meridian, in the sense that his wounds will seal etc. but it's excruciatingly painful. this is why he just brushes past healers after fights - the best way for him to heal is to drink fresh blood, and he's not asking for that lol
