There's a reasonable argument that regular paid tours could help draw more attention to the project and spur more investment, but the restoration won't ever be substantially funded via tour tickets. Hell, just modifying the building's insurance to cover tour activities could wipe out the earnings.

I’m sad I missed all of the Open House Chicago sites this weekend other than the Uptown Theatre (where I volunteered all day Saturday and the first half of Sunday).

Shoutout to my 7-year-old who waited two hours with us to see the inside of the Uptown Theatre today. He was the youngest kid I saw, probably bc most parents aren’t as dumb as me. Here’s a pic I took of the Uptown 20 years ago before they had to lop off the top before it fell on the sidewalk.
