Show PostFinished Well Dweller. I often ask myself what genre is the one I prefer the most, and that answer fluctuates, but metroidvanias are certainly up there. There's just something so enjoyable about a game doing exactly what you think it will confidently. Just a great time.
Show PostINMOST caught me off guard. I expected something spooky, but found myself reflecting on grief and the limits of helping someone, even in my profession. It left me shaken, but also comforted. One of the most meaningful games I’ve played.
Show PostNo, I did not stay up late last night playing Well Dweller because I couldn't put the controller down. Why do you ask?
Show PostOn the surface, it feels like Well Dweller is rather simplistic. Glimmer's moveset is limited (no wallrun, walljump, dodge or air dodge, only sliding & jumping). But the design is brilliant. Each boss fight and new ability shape a lean, no fluff metroidvania accessible to players both old and new.
