TBH the only reason these misconceptions go so far is because even allies believe the myths that these lies are based on. There's a weird thing where people think they know everything about trans issues and won't even entertain new information

People believe a lot of incorrect things if it agrees with thier own biases and bigotries. Like half my job is educating people that little things they do/misbelieve/got wrong are the cause for much bigger & more expensive problems.
