Ahh yes, I think I see the problem, and you're right to some extent. SSP will give you gains in elementary, as Mississippi demonstrated, but the magic bullet is actually discipline and attendance. The kids turn up and they follow instructions. There's no worthwhile educational discourse before that.

I agree! In this case, they will be proven wrong by practicality, and it's important for the center/left to have a conversation on bigger question of "what kids need" before we go on the offense about philosophy
