It's called a comparison. A common line of anti-gay (perhaps now they'd prefer Gay Critical or Sexuality Critical, maybe Homosexuality Realist?) types was that gays/lesbians had the right to get married. Married 'normally' of course. That "gay marriage" was a "special right" or whatever.

Not all of us liberals are more concerned with politeness. Crushing the threat that reactionaries pose to society will require actions that aren't "polite" and I and others are fine with that.

It’s the same argument people used to claim that gay people weren’t discriminated against regarding marriage: they could get married, just not to the people they loved. Trans people can pee, just not in the appropriate bathrooms.
