I have to bring up the subtext, too. Because if you teach primarily white students in a relatively wealthy district, none of this applies. Teachers can have freedom to teach however they want. But if your school has low test scores, people like this can prey on your vulnerability

Oof that's a lot of people! The solitude was wonderful, we went down by the hot springs afterwards, just in time to see the ice fog before it burned off. That was so cool too. (Literally and figuratively). I'll dig out those photos when I get back later today.

Always wanted to experience the Redwoods, and finally got to go. I wish I could articulate how incredibly moving I found it to be, but words fail me. So I will simply say that my wish for all of you is to have moments of peace like this in the midst of the chaos.
