@flamboroughbird.bsky.social Another fantastic 5 days at Flamborough Mig week. Informative ringing demonstrations by the team at Sth Landing and, on Tuesday, the most informative walk we’ve been on in many years visiting led by @craigcthomas1.bsky.social Thanks to all the team for being brilliant.
Show PostYellow-browed Warbler heard 3 times at 4.15pm at Grafham Water 300 yards NE of Savages creek from cycle track. Just 3rd site record (but 2nd I’ve found) @birdguides.bsky.social @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social #ukbirding
Show PostMust have checked thousands of Goldies this Autumn trying to find an American Golden Plover. Finally I found this pristine juvenile at Funzie this afternoon.
Show PostEnjoyed watching Dippers at Thornton le Dale yesterday. The white showing across it’s eye is a third, transparent eyelid, a 'nictitating membrane', that it can close, enabling it to see underwater. The wonder of evolution again!
Show PostCompleted my Yank passerine hat-trick on Barra today (REV & Swainson’s Thrush the other 2), this Blackpoll Warbler not only a Scottish tick, but a Barra & find as well! Hopefully not too long a wait for my 4th American passerine! #Barrabirders #Barraboys #BirdingScotland
