they had a decently good relationship until the banquet and minfilia's subsequent death happened. thancred blamed him and his co-wol friend, saito for failing to protect minfilia and they both didnt speak with each other until SHB, where they reconciled after the events at nabaath araeng.

imo thancred is one of the first characters in XIV that i like. i don't talk about him a lot but he is definitely one of my favourite veteran scion members. (alternatively alphinaud and alisaie could've been here but u'renh didnt really 'see' them onboard the chocobo cart)

#wayfinders_xiv thancred was the first scion member that u'renh met. to him, at first he thought he was some skirt-chasing rogue so he didnt pay too much attention to him. it wasn't until when u'renh learned that thancred (and minfilia) knows something about his dad that he piqued his curiosity.

After Endwalker, Lomasi is also summoned to the meeting of the Rhul sisters, revealing to Y'shtola how close her father and Lomasi actually had been. So the two are able to bond yet more deeply about a matter Y'shtola never spoken to anyone about before that point.

So yeah, they view eachother as lovers, there's some teasing between them at times, yet they trust eachother wholly and blindly.
