"This place has been an apartheid state since 1967 and, well, if we want democracy to really work we'll need to not only allow everyone to vote but we even need to ally with * spits * Arabs. A complete societal turnaround" What kind of society was this, then? I think I know...
Show PostI mean, look at this. You tell me how the logical conclusion here is not “this country’s governing ideology is very, very racist” and then explain why Britain spent three weeks in a terrifying panic over the idea the country’s governing ideology is very racist.
Show PostAnd demographically speaking, the next big shift here isn’t going to be towards pluralism and reason. It’s going to be an insane far right revolution that creates wildly more extreme and violent governments than the current one, and those guys will be in charge of the nuclear arsenal.
Show PostObviously the conclusion here is that as a society, Israel will always choose to continue being murderously racist and internationally reviled, rather than calming down a bit and calling off the multiple wars and atrocities. And you can see Jon knows it, but he just… will not say it outright.
Show PostThis is as close as I’ve ever seen Jon come to conceding that Israeli society in general has frighteningly far right politics, and that even the section of the public that is a bit less extreme would rather see the far right continue to rule than work with “the Arabs”.
