Yes, fair. Yet we share our data and code because trust alone may be enough for most, but not for everyone. But I agree that first we need to figure out what we think it’s acceptable (I’m sure others will have different views) and only then figure out how to enforce it.
Show PostI understand that; I didn't mean it as a criticism. My comment on enforcement was only to say that, as a discipline, we may need to discuss whether we want to enforce these things and how. But I appreciate this is beyond your goals with this text.
Show PostWhile there are surely issues with enforcement, I quite like this as a philosophy when thinking about what is an acceptable use of AI. You can use it in ways that, if it were a human, would not cross the threshold for naming it as a coauthor.
