That's a really interesting concept. In the USA, we have many plants that won't flower unless they go through a cold period. This is the first time I've seen that applied to animals. Fascinating.

Both juvenile owls together. I often go on 'attitude' when trying to determine the sex of Powerful Owls. Usually the male is more relaxed and chunky, but the facial feather's suggest the one on the left is female, the one on the right male but I've learned over the years you can never be too sure!
