the majority of people, I think, have extremely flexible memories. not necessarily Liz Holmes 'I was always this person' level but certainly enough to recast their own opinions and positions whatever the facts were
Show Postthis actually came up at my mother-in-law's funeral, she loved to talk about how she had been a hippy and the (very good) minister worked it into the eulogy after talking to us. But in the talk my wife was like 'I don't think she actually *was* a hippy' and I said 'not the time for fact-checking'
Show PostI was baffled by the London councils plan for the council leaders to scruntise the mayor when he has such a light foot print on say outer London- very few planning apps get called in, the police aren’t a huge issue and so it’s mostly just ulez and cycle lanes?
Show PostI do find it weird how there is talk about giving the boroughs more power, considering its taken the Mayor over a decade to pedestrianise half a mile of road.
Show PostThe article is that its both got nicer in some ways and worse in others, with the implication that the ways it got worse do not support the nice parts of brixton. Which is pretty undeniably true. People shitting on my doorstep is not why Electric Brixton books Argentinian hip hop acts etc.
