You know, I'm fighting it hard, but the scientific racism of the age is starting to get to me. Brain fog. Is it perimenopause? Late diagnosed ADHD? The unrelenting grief of this era? Or am I existentially doomed to feel out of place in these R1 academic spaces even as a full professor and chair?

Observation after hearing from colleagues today: even if you explicitly state in your syllabus that students may not use GenAI, the students are attuned to the institution's AI boosterism - often framed as "responsible uses of AI" - and that institutional messaging overrides faculty's stated policy.
