Christ, this was bleak. It’s shot like a love letter to Americana that it resembles a Norman Rockwell painting. Like Mulligan’s Mockingbird, sunny pastoral simplicity is shattered by violence. But there’s no moral center. We just fall deeper and deeper down a well with no bottom. Fascinating film.
