One thing that I really, really want to get across is that there is a very deep and serious complacency that has become widespread around the comparison of renewable energy actuals vs projections - a sort of triumphalist techno-solutionist cheap shot that always goes viral but doesn't say much.
Show PostI spent a huge amount of time in 2024 collecting up previous projections of CCS and comparing that to actual installed capacity - not just the IEA, but for IPCC reports and fossil fuel companies too Not part of any paid work either - just, freely shared on my blog ketanjoshi.co/2024/11/24/2...
Show PostBarack Obama just delivered a blistering rebuke of Trump's actions against Ilhan Omar. This is worth reading in full.
Show PostWorth an extra push, to reduce our dependence on LNG imports and greenhouse gas emissions at the same time! (Combined with a stronger energy efficiency drive, and with electrification, of course)
Show PostWhat most people don't know: when you fill up a petrol car most of the energy never moves it. Petrol car: 13–21% of the crude oil's energy reaches wheels. Electric car on today's UK grid: 43–45%. Electric car on wind+solar: 77–80%. That's why we don't need to replace fossil energy one for one.
