Blatt is both leaf (as on a tree) and sheet (as sheet of paper). Schale generally means shell (as in eggshell) or peel/skin (as in potato skin). Zweischalige Tiere (2 shells, bivalvular), einschalige Tiere (1 shell, univalvular).

Here's Claude on what I imagine was the original problem. It, too, changes the meaning of n along the way, but at least it gets the cross product right!
