After "The Best Of Both Worlds" firmly broke with TNG's initial rules, the show took the next step towards serialized storytelling with an episode just dealing with the ramifications of the previous two-parter, with no extraneous sci-fi storyline bogging things down. Absolutely fantastic.

For the most part growing up, TNG was a purely ambient experience for me. I was very young and we watched at dinnertime. However, there were like two dozen episodes that I have vivid memories of being enthralled for the entire time. Best Of Both Worlds, I believe, was the first since the pilot.
